| Fighting for Your Marriage
This
is the book that the PREP® workshop is based on. The information
is easy to read and there are funny cartoons and great exercises.
Much of what is contained in the Coming Together for Life workshop
comes directly from this book. The three authors are eminent researchers
in the field of marital therapy and present their findings in a
meaningful and practical way. One of the authors, Dr. Scott Stanley,
also created a distinct Christian PREP® version for those who
may find biblical references helpful. He has also extensively studied
the quality of commitment as it is encountered in marriage. |
Why Marriages Succeed
or Fail
Dr. Gottman's research pinpoints exactly what
the common mistakes both men and women make and what to do about
them. His observations are not from the top of his head. He has
studied thousands of couples and makes excellent use of real world
couples, their problems and the solutions that work. He's a researcher
who is willing to correct mistakes in theory. Check out the rest
of his helpful books on "Raising an Emotionally Intelligent Child"
and other titles at the Amazon site. |
| The New Intimacy
The great thing about this book is that the authors
are married to each other and they use examples of their struggles.
This book can change the way in which you perceive differences
between you and your partner. A wonderful book for relationship
enhancement.

Get Smart with your heart
Written by my friend, Sucanne Lopez. This is
'smart relationship' information for anyone interested in choosing
and creating the most enriching and nourishing intimate bonds.
Suzanne writes as if a wise spiritual soul were guiding her thoughts. |
| Angry All the Time
Dr.
Ronald Potter-Efron is committed to helping those with issues
of shame and speaks very well to the recovery community. His books
are all written in a wonderfully direct and non-academic style.
I love his practical approach. And he is one of the few authors
who seem to appreciate the necessity of using outs in ordinary
couples conflicts. A man after my own heart on that account. His
other books on shame are fabulous!

| Facing the Fire- Experiencing
and Expressing Anger Appropriately
John Lee's book on anger has received excellent
reviews because it is written from the angle that anger is a healthy
feeling...that needs to be expressed. Most people like the style
of his very direct writing. He also speaks from his personal experience.
The expercises are powerful and practical. Try out his 'breathing
with the wounded child' visualization.
