Alyce
La Violette, MFT- Founder;
Alternatives To Violence
Alyce began her work with battered women in 1978 and founded
ATV in 1979. She has published on this topic and co-authored a book
titled "It Could Happen to Anyone: Why Battered Women Stay."
She trains and consults nationally and internationally at conferences
and with agencies and corporations. Alyce serves as an expert witness
in court and appears on local and national television and radio.

The majority of our group members are self referred and
not coming because the court sent them. This means that
there is more motivation for change present in our groups.
If you have a desire to stop controlling & abusive
behavior, we have a great track record for helping you make the
changes you're looking for.
Confidentiality, is a priority and has been maintained
in the past, despite the presence of notable persons.

We have
openings in both the West Los Angeles and Long Beach Groups:
Our
intake fee is $150. for the one and a half hour interview.
Group sessions are $60. per session.
Our groups focus
on changing the beliefs that support verbally controlling
and abusive behaviors. Each group is facilitated by male/female
teams.
Alyce La Violette,
MFT has worked with battered women since 1978 and founded Alternative
To Violence in 1979. It was one of the first programs in the country
to work with spouse abuse. She wrote the book, 'It Could Happen
To Anyone: Why Battered Women Stay.' She has been
the keynote speaker for dozens of professional organizations regarding
domestic violence and batterers treatment programs. She co-chairs
the California Association of Batterers Intervention Programs and
was a pioneer in the treatment of abusers.

facilitated groups for men with behaviors ranging from controlling
verbally abusive to being physically violent. |

Marc Sadoff,
MSW, BCD
Marc is Alyce's co-facilitator in the West
Los Angeles Men's Group. Marc has worked with Alyce for 22
years.

If there is a
pattern of controlling physical abuse then we recommend professional
group treatment by Alternatives To Violence men's groups.
Groups are available in West Los Angeles, Long Beach and Orange
County.
Marc co-facilitates
the Thursday West Los Angeles group with Alyce. He has 20
years of experience as a psychotherapist and his communication skills
course has been featured in Time Magazine.
Our group meets
the Los Angeles County Probation Departments requirements for diversion
groups. We qualify as a 52 week program for court ordered domestic
violence groups, but also include many men who have not been ordered
by the court to attend.
Marc has 22 years
of anger management and domestic violence group experience and of
providing marital therapy & couples treatment when the violence

and the seminars, may be helpful for couples who do not have a pattern
of physical abuse and intimidation, within the last 6 six months,
and can benefit from educational approaches to marital conflict.
The West Los Angeles
group meets on Thursdays from 7-9 pm. There is an intake session
prior to coming into the group.
